Dear Clubs and Bridge Players
The QBA is keen to provide accurate, comprehensive, detailed and authoritative information to clubs who wish to re-open. Manager, Kim Ellaway, has been tireless in her quest through multiple government departments over the last months to obtain this. Sadly, but understandably, it seems that such information is simply not obtainable at this time. It is possible to get differing opinions depending on who you ask. A letter, attached (email address removed), seeking clarification has been sent to the Q Sport (the QBA is an associate member even though not recognized as a sport) which should ultimately reach Queensland Health. The expectation is that a response cannot be expected for at least three weeks.
I would like to offer particular thanks to Vic Mason from Mackay who, quite early in the pandemic crisis, made available all of their documentation including: Covid-19 plan; entry protocols; health questionnaire; return to play plan; infection control training; and, thermometer instructions.
Meanwhile clubs need to make their own decisions as to when and how they will re-open. The relevant document “Roadmap to easing Queensland’s restrictions” provides some information but, be warned, bridge clubs can arbitrarily fit into either one of two sections:
- Family, friends and community; or
- Businesses and economy
Meanwhile, best wishes to all. Keep safe.
The Beenleigh-Logan Bridge Club management committee has decided that from April 14, all online learning and other sessions, will incur a monthly fee for access.
There has been considerable time and effort setting up the available systems, we do now have a monthly cost to cover our Zoom sessions, and most importantly Val is providing her time and support to ensure our Bridge Club continues to thrive in these uncertain times.
Val does however wish that all money received goes back into the club and is providing her time free at this stage.
Please find attached an invoice for payment of the first upcoming paid monthly subscription.
Your first month will provide you with 6 weeks of sessions, with following invoices to be for 4 weeks of access.
Many thanks for your understanding and we look forward to continuing to support your Bridge play improvement.
